CTU Training Solutions is proud to share the recent success of the UXi Women’s Rugby Invitational Team at the QUINS 7’s Rugby Tournament. The event, hosted by SA Allstars at Harlequins Rugby Club, brought together some of South Africa’s best talent in a thrilling showcase of skill, camaraderie, and fierce competition.
The UXi Women’s Rugby Team was made up of top athletes from the Harlequins International Rugby Institute, Griquas International Rugby Institute, and Western Province International Rugby Institute – each player bringing her unique strengths and drive to the field.
Nine players from the Griquas Institute are also pursuing their studies through funded bursaries at CTU Training Solutions. Through a collaborative effort, CTU and UXi Sport enabled these students to participate in the tournament, blending their athletic ambitions with academic growth.
Dominating the Pool Stage
The tournament began with the pool stages, where the UXi women quickly established themselves as a team to watch. With precision, strategy, and a relentless spirit, they dominated their pool games, finishing undefeated and securing a well-earned place in the Cup Final. This flawless record was a testament to their dedication and teamwork, with each player contributing to a cohesive and powerful performance on the field.
An Intense Final Showdown
In the Cup Final, the UXi women faced off against a formidable opponent in what turned out to be a closely contested battle. The team played with heart, showcasing their skills under intense pressure, but narrowly missed out on the championship, taking second place. Although the result was bittersweet, the players left the field with heads held high, having given their all in a memorable final match.
Celebrating Women’s Rugby
More than just a competition, the QUINS 7’s Tournament was a celebration of women’s rugby and the growing popularity of sevens rugby among women in South Africa. The event provided the UXi players with a unique opportunity to forge connections, learn from their experiences, and be part of a broader movement to elevate women’s participation in the sport. The support from coaches, teammates, and fans created an inspiring atmosphere that reminded everyone of the unifying power of rugby.
