Critical thinking is fundamentally based on logic. When one is engaged in critical thinking, one is building logical arguments based on rational reasoning and verified evidence. It is through the use of logic that arguments are built up, step by step, in order to be persuasive.  Logic can be described as the systematic study of inferences (Sen, 2010).
