In late 2024, we celebrated Lidene Kruger, a CTU student and Griquas rugby standout, for her inclusion in the Junior Springbok U/20 Women’s Squad. Now, less than a year later, we’re proud to share another milestone in her rising career: Lidene has been selected for the Springbok Women’s Sevens Training Squad, set to take place from 3–15 August 2025.
This prestigious training camp brings together the country’s top women’s rugby players in preparation for upcoming international competitions in the Sevens format. For Lidene, it’s a powerful next step – transitioning from age-group excellence to rubbing shoulders with some of South Africa’s most experienced players.
Her journey from high school hockey player to standout centre for Griquas has been nothing short of extraordinary. What sets Lidene apart is her ability to adapt, evolve, and rise to every challenge with confidence and humility. Her call-up to the Sevens squad is not just recognition of her physical skill, but also her work ethic, discipline, and growing presence on the national rugby scene.
As she heads into this two-week high-performance camp, we know she will continue to make the CTU community proud. Lidene is a testament to what happens when passion meets perseverance – and we can’t wait to see where her journey takes her next.
🏉 Well done, Lidene. Your momentum is undeniable, and your CTU family is behind you all the way.
