Rising Star: CTU Student Lidene’ Kruger Joins the Juniorbok Squad

CTU Training Solutions is thrilled to celebrate Lidene’ Kruger, a remarkable student who has achieved the incredible feat of being selected for the U/20 Women’s Juniorbok squad. Her journey, from starting rugby only this year to earning a place in the national squad, is nothing short of inspiring. Raised in a rugby-loving household, Lidene’ always dreamed of playing rugby, but her high school did not offer the sport for girls. Instead, she channelled her energy into hockey, where she quickly became known for her fierce determination on the field. However, her passion for rugby never waned. Just two months after completing her matric, Lidene’ received a life-changing offer from UXI Sport Kimberley to pursue rugby, along with an academic bursary at CTU Training Solutions – Creative & Technology Universitas. She didn’t hesitate to pack her bags and move to Kimberley to chase her dreams. In an interview, Lidene’ shared, “My dad is my biggest inspiration. His passion for rugby is contagious, and it’s because of him that I’ve fallen in love with the game.” When asked how it felt to be selected for the U/20 Juniorbok squad, Lidene’ described her emotions as a mix of disbelief, pride, and excitement. “It was overwhelming to know that everything I worked for became a reality. Representing my country has always been a dream, and now that it’s happening, I feel more determined than ever,” she said. Lidene’ is currently pursuing a Business Management N4 qualification through Distance Learning at CTU Training Solutions’ Bloemfontein Campus. Her decision to enrol in this program is driven by her strong interest in entrepreneurship and business leadership. “The skills I’m gaining at CTU are invaluable as I navigate my future, both in my rugby career and in the business world,” she shared. Her journey exemplifies the combined efforts of CTU Training Solutions and UXI Sport, both key institutions within the UXi Group. This collaboration between sports and academics is designed to ensure that learners like Lidene’ can chase their athletic dreams while also planning for a full-proof career. Through this innovative approach, students are not only encouraged to excel in sports but are also equipped with the academic foundation needed for long-term success, both on and off the field. “The bursary I received from CTU Training Solutions in collaboration with their partner companies has been a game-changer, not only for my rugby career but also for my academic pursuits. It’s allowed me to focus on both my sport and my studies without the financial burden, and for that, I’m incredibly grateful,” Lidene’ expressed. As for her future goals, Lidene’s ambitions are sky-high. She aims to represent South Africa in both the Senior Women’s Bok team and the Sevens, and she’s even considering getting involved in rugby coaching one day to help develop women’s rugby at schools. Lidene’ Kruger’s story is a testament to the power of passion, perseverance, and the support of a community that believes in your potential. Her success is a shining example of how the UXi Group’s vision of blending sports and academics is enabling learners to create bright futures for themselves. We are beyond proud to have played a role in Lidene’s journey and look forward to seeing her soar even higher in the future.

Crafting an Effective Study Schedule: A Step-by-Step Guide

Before diving into the intricacies of exams, assignments, and various academic hurdles, it’s vital to understand the power of planning. Just as a builder wouldn’t construct a house without a blueprint, students shouldn’t tackle their studies without a well-thought-out schedule. Crafting a study schedule is a proactive approach to academic success, ensuring you’re not only prepared but also confident when the exams roll around.   Determining Your Study Style Everyone’s brain is wired differently. Some of us are early birds, soaking up information best in the morning, while others are night owls, finding their peak productivity under the moonlight. Before creating a study schedule, it’s crucial to: Identify your peak times: When do you feel most alert? Understand your learning type: Are you visual, auditory, kinesthetic, or reading/writing-oriented? Tailor your study methods accordingly.   Breaking Down Subjects and Topics Avoid the overwhelming feeling of looking at a subject as a colossal entity. Instead: List down subjects: Start with the broad subjects you need to study. Divide into topics: Break down each subject into its primary topics and subtopics. This creates manageable chunks, making the study process feel more achievable.   Allocating Time Effectively Now that you’ve broken down your subjects, it’s time to decide how much time each deserves: Prioritise: Which subjects or topics are your weaknesses? They might need more time. Distribute time: Assign specific blocks of time to each topic. Be realistic; don’t overburden yourself. Buffer times: Always add some extra time for unforeseen distractions or topics that might take longer than expected.   Adjusting and Reassessing as Exams Approach Your initial schedule isn’t set in stone. As you progress: Review weekly: At the end of each week, assess what you’ve achieved and what needs adjusting. Stay flexible: If a particular topic took longer than expected, don’t stress. Adjust your schedule for the next week. Practice papers: As exams near, integrate past papers or mock tests into your schedule. This will give you a real-time assessment of your preparation. Remember, the objective of a study schedule isn’t to confine you but to empower you. It’s a tool, a guide that leads you through the maze of academics, ensuring you come out successful on the other side. As the days progress and you check off topics from your list, you’ll not only gain knowledge but also a significant boost in confidence. Stick to the plan, make adjustments when needed, and believe in your ability to conquer your exams.   CTU Training Solutions – Empowering YOU Through Education
