Mechanical Engineering (N1-N3)

Foundation Engineering designed to give students a solid foundation in engineering fundamentals. It is the application of knowledge, typically in the form of science, mathematics, and empirical evidences to the innovation, design, construction, operation and maintenance of structures, machines and materials. This course is an introduction to learning and applying the principles required to solve engineering problems. Concepts will be applied in this course from previous courses you have taken in basic math and physics.

Career Focus

  • To assist with day-to-day operation in the workshop.
  • Assist with the design and planningthe layout of equipment.
  • Fault finding in manufacturing processes
  • Work with project Supervisors/managers on production efforts to ensure thatprojectsare completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget

EXAMINATION

Department of Higher Education & Training (DHET) is the only examination body responsible to set and administer National Examinations. Only students who have registered and complied with the administration requirement will be allowed to write the examination.

NATIONAL QUALIFICATION

  • National N Certificate: N1 Mechanical Engineering (SAQA ID 67109, NQF Level 2)
  • National N Certificate: N2 Mechanical Engineering (SAQA ID 67375, NQF Level 3)

Certificates and Diplomas are issued by the DHET.
The release of Statements of results and Certificates are dependent on DHET Timeline.

ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Grade 9 (Pure Mathematics/Mathematics Literacy & Physical Science) for N1
